Daphne SaundersDaphne Saunders, a Social Services Specialist with our Foster Care and Adoption program, recently passed away. Daphne was known through helping to onboard new foster parents through PRIDE training and mutual family assessments.

Daphne had a long career working for Fairfax County. She was a valuable member of our department for over 15 years. In addition to her work in CYF, she was also a foster parent for Arlington County. Daphne’s commitment to helping others went well beyond her office hours.

Serving others was truly her life’s work, whether she was working at a local shelter, training foster/kinship providers, or being a foster parent. She was a vocal advocate for equity and never afraid of speaking up for others.

Daphne's outgoing personality endeared her to everyone she interacted with, and she was genuinely concerned about her colleagues and friends. She cared deeply about her work and the families she served and will be dearly missed.

Join us in honoring Daphne by celebrating her life and remembering the positive impact she had on our department, her family and friends, and the broader community we serve.
